Aspyr Media told me today that Civilization VI for Linux & Mac will get cross-platform multiplayer when the next patch drops for us.

Civilization VI is to get a Spring patch with balance changes and bug fixes, but we're also getting the Persia & Macedon civilizations too.

As expected, although not in the same day I wrote about Aspyr teasing it, the 'Australian Summer' update for Civilization VI is now live on Linux.

Aspyr Media have officially released the Linux port of Civilization VI and after testing it here’s some thoughts.

Civilization VI is being ported to Linux by Aspyr Media and I’m seriously excited for the release. I’m able to confirm a little early for you that it will release on February 9th.

It has been pointed out in our Telegram chat group (thanks Kithop) that Aspyr Media have said on Steam that Civilization VI has entered final testing for Linux.

It’s been a bit of a ride, but we now have it confirmed for sure that Civilization VI is coming to Linux, and the release isn’t far off. We are able to confirm this with permission before the official announcement from Aspyr Media that is due later today.

Aspyr Media have confirmed that the Linux version of Civilization VI will not be confirmed for this year, as they are still looking into the 'feasibility' of the Linux port.

The volunteer moderators on the Civ VI forum have been banning Linux users for expressing their support of a Linux port.

As sad as it may sound GameAgent (owned by the Aspyr Media) is going away, but don't worry, Aspyr is still here to stay.

A simple reply to a tweet is probably the most positive indication that we have seen yet for Civilization VI actually releasing on Linux.

This is awesome to see, people in the community have sent both Feral Interactive & Aspyr Media some little care packages full of treats.

Aspyr Media sent out a tweet today for Linux gamers stating that Civilization VI for Linux is still possible.

Civilization VI was originally announced for Linux back in May, since then we've had a lot of silence on it, until today. Aspyr Media seem to be the developer handling it, but they are still investigating if it's viable.
